Omega-B V8

    I essentially have all of the parts needed (minus the drivetrain and the engine wiring harness) from the cancelled V8 Omega that was to be introduced for the 2001 year. I in a few months time will begin the swap, time permitting.

    endlich mal echte fotos, weil die zeichungen ausm tis kannte ich schon opel, aber das ja mal geil.
    aber is ja kein geheimnis das in Pforzheim 2 omega B V8 (selbst gebaute mit corvette motor) und min 1 omega A V8 unterwegs ist, und dann noch der evo500 mit corvette V8 motor.

    Ist echt schade, das OPEL die nicht versucht hat weiterzuentwickeln, das sie voll einzatzfähig wären! so einer wäre bestimmt auch recht gut weggegangen!

    Yup, I'm from Toronto, Canada.


    I got these parts from a large GM tuner called Lingenfelter Performance Engineering located in Indiana, USA (not very far from me):

    They have a very close relationship with GM and run several racing programs for GM. Shortly after Opel/GM cancelled the Omega V8 program, Lingenfelter purchased these parts.


    Why they cancelled it is unknown; one plausible reason is that the V8 was going to be the only engine option for the Cadillac Catera in the 2001 (also the final year for the Catera in North America) model year, replacing the 3.0L V6 which was the only engine offered from 1998-2000. So the majority of V8 sales would have been in North America. But since the all new Cadillac CTS was to replace the Catera in 2003 anyways, GM did not see the V8 as a financially sound investment for a model that would only be around for 1-year in North America, and only 2 more in Europe.


    Spawn, maybe you could briefly translate into German for the rest of the members since your english seems to be very good.

Ich bekam diese Teile von einem großen GM Tuner genannt die Lingenfelter Leistungstechnik gelegen in Indiana, den USA (nicht sehr weit von mir): Http: // http://www.lingenfelter.com/haben Sie eine sehr nahe Beziehung mit GM und führen mehrere laufende Programme für GM. Kurz nachdem Opel/GM das Omega V8 Programm annullierte, kaufte Lingenfelter diese Teile. Warum sie es annullierten, ist unbekannt; ein plausibler Grund ist, dass der V8 dabei war, die einzige Motorauswahl für den Cadillac Catera im 2001 (auch das letzte Jahr für den Catera in Nordamerika) Musterjahr zu sein, 3.0L V6 ersetzend, der der einzige Motor angeboten von 1998-2000 war. So wäre die Mehrheit von V8 Verkäufen in Nordamerika gewesen. Aber seit dem ganzen neuen Cadillac sollte CTS den Catera 2003 anyways ersetzen, GM sah den V8 als eine kapitalstarke Investition für ein Modell nicht, das nur ringsherum für 1-jährig in Nordamerika, und noch nur 2 in Europa sein würde.
