The engine is nothing special (5.7L LS1), same engine that came in the 1997+ Corvette, 1998+ Camaro, Holden Monaro, Holden Commodore etc......

All LSx engines are nearly the same. Like X25XE, X30XE, Y32XE, Y26XE

    All parts = $2750 USD = 1997 Euros

    No engine and no tranmission.

    Yup, I'm from Toronto, Canada.

I got these parts from a large GM tuner called Lingenfelter Performance Engineering located in Indiana, USA (not very far from me):

    http://www.lingenfelter.com/

They have a very close relationship with GM and run several racing programs for GM. Shortly after Opel/GM cancelled the Omega V8 program, Lingenfelter purchased these parts.

Why they cancelled it is unknown; one plausible reason is that the V8 was going to be the only engine option for the Cadillac Catera in the 2001 (also the final year for the Catera in North America) model year, replacing the 3.0L V6 which was the only engine offered from 1998-2000. So the majority of V8 sales would have been in North America. But since the all new Cadillac CTS was to replace the Catera in 2003 anyways, GM did not see the V8 as a financially sound investment for a model that would only be around for 1-year in North America, and only 2 more in Europe.

Spawn, maybe you could briefly translate into German for the rest of the members since your english seems to be very good.

I essentially have all of the parts needed (minus the drivetrain and the engine wiring harness) from the cancelled V8 Omega that was to be introduced for the 2001 year. I in a few months time will begin the swap, time permitting.

    Here is the plan LOL.

    ^^^
The subframe appears to be identical to the V6 excluding the altered mount plates.

    Another subframe shot.

Engine mount has Mercedes logo and part number, (or from Mercedes supplier) and same as used on SLK, E-class and few ohter models.

This one is identical but has a GM logo.
